Studio Showcase

Studio 1

This studio stand out because of the creativity involved in creating the meme. The creativity stems from the idea that a meme is a form a writing were you have to fit a bid idea or joke into a small picture and phrase. This causes you to have to make sure that the picture and phrase get across specifically what you wanted it to. This studio also mattered because it was our first studio and taught us how broad the word writing really was. When you think of writing i'm sure you think of a essay or article but it is much more than that and this studio highlights that perfectly. It is simply just a picture and a few words but is indeed a form of writing. We learned from this studio that we weren't going to be able to coast throughout this course and that every studio would require a lot of thought and creativity. I was able to build off this studio and come into every other studio with confidence that I could do whatever assignment was thrown at us. I loved this studio because it gave us a taste of what we were going to be doing throughout the semester.

I'm a Studio 2

This studio was mattered because of the lesson that it taught us as writers. The studio was to analyze three commercials two that were given to us and one of our choose. Similar to studio 1 it seems to be a fairly simple task that does not require much thought. But the real idea of the studio was to not look at the obvious of the commercial but to dig deeper and look at the what the commercial truly wanted you to leave with. In this case the main actor in the commercial was stabbed with a fish and the end of the commercial states well at least your taxes are free. When looking at the commercial at face value the average observer would just think the idea of the commercial was to be funny and let you known that if you utilize turbotax that it would be free. Which is true, however, the average viewer would miss the true meaning of the commercial and that's would this studio taught us. In this case the true intentions of the commercial was to leave a lasting impression on the viewer so when they are frustrated doing taxes they will think of that funny turbotax commercial they saw and choose them. In other words turbotax will always be there for you and it won't cost you a dime. Now the reason this matters is we referenced this ability all year of being able to read between the lines and see the true meaning behind different writing and this was the introduction necessary to ensure we could complete the task and improve as writers.

Studio 4

Studio four was the start of doing something that all though I did not particularly fun to do was vital in me becoming a better writer. The idea of the studio was to complete two column notes on a article regarding helicopter parents. One side of the paper was filled with interesting quotes directly quoted from the article that caught your attention. On the other side of the paper was notes from your mind, basically it was the opinion you had on the quote or the idea that the quote from the article inspired. Now why this makes you a better writer and the importance in this studio comes down to the skill that two column notes gives the reader. It demands that you read the article carefully and you get the full purpose of what the author is writing. Coming back to the studio prior you will not be able to properly analyze the article and it’s true purpose if you can't sit down and spend proper time on the article which is what this studio forces you to do. When you finish this studio the reader will realize the understanding of the article is much greater and they can also apply this to their own writing. This studio also helps the student edit their own work and specifically essays better. So similar to the other studios in the showcase although the idea of two column notes seems simple it has a true meaning behind it that improved us as writers.
